Hello, Ken! First, as a life-long (so far) devotee of Mr Astaire - and having had the pleasure of meeting him all too briefly during his 1975 London visit - many, many heartfelt thanks to you for your work on the albums and now on the DVDs. Couldn't resist pointing out (maybe you'd already noticed) that towards the end of the trailer for 'Holiday Inn' which is featured on the 'Second Chorus' DVD, the short sequence chosen to illustrate the '6 dances by Fred Astaire' caption is, in fact, from the final number in 'Second Chorus'!! So, six to choose from and they used one from another movie!! As you say to Ava during the commentary - 'there's always someone out there ...!'
Looking forward to more Astaire asap - kindest regards, Terry |

Hi, Terry,
Thanks for your enterprising observation. It's often said that trailers don't always truthfully reflect the film they are advertising. This is a case in point. But since both films were made at the same studio - and probably back to back - the promotion department felt it was a smart piece of subliminal advertising.
Incidentally - although this is still a bit premature - Universal MAY be releasing a Special Edition DVD of "Holiday Inn" later this year. Although this is not a 100 per cent certain (which means it could fall through )they've asked me to stand by as producer. An announcement will be made within the next month. So, as they say, watch this space.
Kind regards
Ken B. |
