lots of talk on the message board recently about
the greatest performer of popular songs. it's
no coincidence that Porter, Berlin, Gershwin,
Kern and Arlen wrote some of their best for him.
but what about the RKO stuff on DVD?`especially
Swing Time - the Pick Yourself Up sequence alone
would be well worth the cost of a DVD (even at
Criterion prices!)
Best regards

Hi Jack,
Good to hear from you again. "Swing Time," being an RKO title poses some problems. Firstly, the catalogue is licensed to Universal - as far as the U.K. is concerned.
Secondly, it has been licensed to other countries on a territory-by-territory basis which makes it difficult to produce a really good "bells-and-whistles" DVD.
However, since I'm currently in talks with Universal, I'll mention this to them and see if we can get an international agreement from other countries to make it worthwhile.
At present, there's a possibility that I'll be doing "Holiday Inn" for Universal. So, as the saying goes,
watch this space.
Thanks for the thought
Regards
